g's journal 5.25.10 righteous captain al
This is a great story that San Francisco Chronicle journalist Paul Oliva covered from the scene, so I will just link to his article rather than retell the story in third person. Al's sailing program for the blind is a non-profit that accepts donations. This is a great cause that you might consider contributing to. Alan has been kind enough to allow me to be first mate on more outings in Lake Michigan and the SF Bay than I can recall. Once he even offered his boat as hotel, with stellar views of Marin and the city. If you're in San Francisco and looking for a peaceful and other-worldly experience, give Captain Al a call. He delivers. Nothing beats sailing out of the Golden Gate and into Big Blue...
pure joy
_________ meanwhile back at the ranch...
the chicks, or more accurately, goslings, are about 3 weeks old, so i guess they're probably more like "tweens" but righteous captain al and the tweenage goslings is a horrible title... wait a minute... anyway, this clan and a couple others migrate between the three ponds that are on the wildlife sanctuary
the bees are loaded up with pollen and nectar (hopefully they'll find their way over to three roods for robin's honey operation)
and the pond is already about 80 degrees summer has unofficially arrived
(yo alan, if you're ever frontman for a rock band, feel free to lift the name — either one)
